The Floating World Web is a cross-linked collection of more than 10000 Thoughts
HOW TO USE THE FWW:
Click on a THOUGHT to make it the FOCUS at the center of the PLEX and to open its associated file in the Content Pane (this frame)
When there are more linked thoughts than can fit in the Plex window, a slider will appear for scrolling through them.
The plex, of course, is the feature of PersonalBrain that is most distinctive. It’s really a substitute, animated Finder for your information, and it has its own geography that denotes the relationship among that information. The screenshot below demonstrates this geography.
How thoughts line up in PersonalBrain defines their relationships.
In this example, the active thought is “Plex Geography.” Below the active thought are its child thoughts. Above the active thought is the parent thought (or parent thoughts, because thoughts can have multiple parents). To the right are sibling thoughts — that is, thoughts that share at least one parent with the active thought. And directly to the left are jump thoughts, items related to the active thought, but unconnected by hierarchy.
Relationships of linked Thoughts to the Focus are:
ABOVE: PARENT Thoughts: These are sometimes Categories to which the central Thought belongs, but often should be thought of as Upstream, or Thoughts which somehow are contributory or lead to the FOCUS Thought.
BELOW: CHILD Thoughts: Sometimes sub-categories, but also Downstream, or Thoughts which somehow follow from the FOCUS
LEFT: JUMP Thoughts : These are what make the Plex more than a mere Category Tree. JUMP Thoughts are Associated with the FOCUS in any of a variety of ways. You could sometimes understand a Jump link as meaning "SEE ALSO"
TOP RIGHT: SIBLING Thoughts: These are other Child Thoughts of the Parent(s) of the Focus
Click on the HIDE MENU arrow at the top left to close the Plex and expand the Content Pane.
There may be glitches in the Plex. If a Thought does not respond to clicking, or if the display becomes corrupted, try SHIFT- or CTRL-clicking again on the desired Thought.
Please inform me of any problems you encounter, and of any suggestions you may have for links or content.
